Hi Rebecca, have you asked your internal customers what they want from you. When I created one, I asked for words and phrases that epitomised what the customers wanted from my department. I did a similar activity with my staff (as to what they thought the customer wanted from them). We ended up with "Partners in Developing Performance", which everyone bought into as they had contributed to and could see how it had been created. |

Hi Rebecca, I agree with John Stinson, what you already have written is an excellent mission statement. |

In regards to your question below, I use this saying all time: "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Nelson Mandela. With kind regards, Karen Isitt |

Hello Rebecca – happy to help if I can – although “inspiring people to be their best version of themselves, injecting energy and passion into the business and being a positive change agent!” is a pretty good start for a mission statement! John |

Thanks ever so much Steve, this is really helpful food for thought. We don't have a main business mission statement, so it's difficult to align it with that, although I have challenged my MD back to come up with one. But your contribution is a brilliant starter, thanks very much!! |

Hi Rebecca, L&D departments have a challenge to show how they really add value to the business in Mission statements, and it is is great to see you trying to incorporate that too.
Are you exploring a pithy, 6 liner or a more detailed bullet pointed Mission Statement?
As a starter (to be changed, thrown out and adopted as you and others contribute) how about.... Our mission is to contribute to business success by developing in team members (colleagues or whatever you call your members of staff) high levels of confidence, skills and knowledge which with our support and encouragement they will be able to bring into their roles.....
As i said, perhaps a bit of a starter Steve |
