Team building activities

...but there's a twist. I have no room for separating the 3 shift teams (16 people in total) as the client has just booked one, rather 'tight' room! The remit is to strengthen the bonding within each shift (technicians) and then to show that the whole production team will be more effective if the shifts work together as ONE TEAM.

I've had a useful chat with Zoe who recommended a few activities from the team building and ice breaker modules..but she suggested asking here whether you have any ideas. Obviously any exercises like building towers/treasure hunts etc won't work because of having only one room and little space.

Hi Sally I would echo crispian's zoom suggestion and 16 people is perfect as there's around 34 pages in the book - you might just want to take out the final 2 pictures, but that won't impact the activity at all. I also like Octons as an activity too where you buy some of the childrens game (3 if you have 2 groups - one for the trainer) and build a model. You would need some space outside the room to put your model but a table in a corridor is fine as long as others don't see it. Teams have to recreate the model exactly using only one builder who remains in the room - no one is allowed to take pictures, touch the model, just use the power of communication. Brings out collaboration, planning, process, clarity of communication, listening

Crispian, I like the sound of that. Would you be so kind as to let me have details of those activities too? Regards. Martin

..there are many that come to mind, and that familiar challenge of a tight space; three that could work - with smaller groups working up to larger: The 18 minute spaghetti challenge ( ia have done in a TINY box room with just enough room for tables); Card sharps - a card sorting/ sped exercise - needs a pack per team; and as the overall group one - i don't think you can get much better as a motivational/ enjoyable but challengiong task as the Zoom or Re-Zoom exercise. Using a cut up version of one the books by Istvan Banyai (i prefer ReZoom) each person has one/ two / three pages of the book (depending on niumbers) and without showing to each other -0 but by description - they have to come up with the sequence of the pages; they then have one attempt to place down in sequence. This always works brilliantly - great for communication/ listening/ challenging/ supporting etc etc . I can email you the full briefs for all of these.
