Hi all,
Thank you all for your responses to this. The difficulty i have is that i rely on others within my team to conduct the coaching and then upload the relevant results and information to an excel spreadsheet. I ultimately need to understand how to evaluate each individual coach and then each coachee to determine whether it has been effective and productive. Would this be best over the course of several months, per individual, per coach etc? Through other work priorities, coaching is not the main part of our role, but an element of it so its not something we doing all day everyday as this will happen just after training new / existing staff or when requested by the business to assist in capabilities. Any other information you can give me would be great! |

Kirsty - some great suggestions so far. I'd throw into the mix competencies - love them or hate them! If you have a framework in place that covers behaviours as well as technical ability you should start to see progress on the behavioural side at staff reviews. This too does take a lot of observation and catching people doing things right. I have worked in a number of companies who did have such frameworks with clear outlines of the expected behaviour at all levels up to senior manager, so there was a progression as well. There was also no weighting on technical ability. Food for thought. Malc |

Just read something ref coaching being evaluated by a number of organisations via 360 feedback process. Maybe something to consider if the management of the process not too onerous. |

Hi Kirsty, How about a skill ladder to show the differences in people's capability before and after the coaching. It would mean quite a lot of observation, but hopefully it would give you the evidence you are looking for without being too stats based. Hope this is a kernel of a helpful idea? |

Hi Kirsty, Just wondering if you have a staff engagement survey, if so have you seen an increase in your engagement levels after the coaching events? Thanks Dave |
