Hi Roger, We use a game when getting our staff to realise the importance of project management (we too don't need to go into the detail of PRINCE2). We give each team a made up (fun) project and get them to discuss and write down how they would plan and their project e.g. - The office Christmas party at Buckingham Palace - The wedding of one of the presenters to Michael Buble - The bosses surprise 50th birthday party We usually do this with a number of groups and provide some specifics / requirements for each event which brings into focus particular PM stages across each of the scenarios. We then review the PM stages (the brief, scope, risks, etc.) to help them identify 'holes' in their plans and how using the basic rules of PM could have prevented it. If you have time at the end they can then use the structure to show how they would have done things differently Its a fun game that helps people realise the importance of each/all of the stages of project management. Hope that helps Graham |

HI Roger,
I'd recommend having a look at the following, in order of complexity/depth:
Hungry Chick Inn. (The main focus here is on prioritising and scheduling tasks). Hold the Front Page. (This one focuses on managing changing priorities and completing a task on time.) Hotel Doldrums. (Requires some assessment of financial information.) Boosting Glasstap's Future. (A longer exercise that requires a variety of skills.)
All of these can be found in the Team Building section of Trainers' Library.
I hope this is of some help.
