Hi Rebecca I've found that asking the team to define what they see as HPT and then comparing that to one of the various tools / processes around is a good starting point. The 5 Dysfunctions of a Team offers a useful benchmark and a self assessment tool. Then get the team to identify how their Belbin team roles are helping the team currently and they could develop more moving forwards using those strengths and filling the gaps. Most important thing is following up on a regular basis to check workshop commitments have been actioned. Kevin |

Hi Rebecca, In addition to Tuckman's Team Development Model I've also referred to the 'Contributory' and Collaborative' team types identified by the former Olympic Coach Frank Dick OBE in his book 'Winning'. These can help teams to work out how they need to work together to perform highly. I've found that teams can also identify high performance traits by association with familiar sports teams. A couple of years ago I collected pictures and news cuttings about the Red Bull Racing F1 team and the England Football team and used these to generate discussion based on the contrasting performances of the two! Hope this helps, all the best, David

Hi Rebecca
I like to use the Tuckman's Team Development Model together with the questionnaire to help determine what stage the team normally operate. It also gives a clear explanation of each stage for a productive group discussion. Good Luck Sera |
