Hi Nicola, what a wonderful opportunity development meetings present to encourage people to identify their unique development needs. I suggest designing a template to help you to explore the individuals role and their learning preferences - some questions such as: - Examples of competency areas where they perform consistently well - What about areas where they need to make more impact? - How do they prefer to learn? - How have they benefited from previous learning and development initiatives? - What is it you can offer in terms of solutions, methods, time budget? -Also a summary - What specific and measurable development needs have you agreed and when will they be fulfilled?
