Glasstap and the BILD enter partnership to
run the BILD's official online forum
Glasstap is proud to announce that their networking forum, Trainers’ Talk is now
the official networking forum for The BILD - The British Institute for Learning
and Development - the UK’s leading individual and organisational membership
organisation, representing the interests of learning and development
professionals.
Trainers’ Talk was launched by Glasstap in 2005. The introduction of daily Auto
Updates in 2010 saw an enormous increase in member usage making the service one
of the most popular training forums in the UK and a great tool for networking
opportunities.
Glasstap’s Commercial Director, Rod Webb said: “We're delighted that The BILD
has chosen to make Trainers' Talk the official forum for members of the British
Institute for Learning and Development. By combining forces, we're creating one
of the largest networks of professional business trainers in the world and I
know that BILD members will appreciate the uniquely supportive and flexible
culture that exists within Trainers' Talk. I look forward to them all getting
involved.”
The BILD’s aim is to support the development and success of its members by
providing a valued range of membership services and through professional
recognition by way of membership grades, which is why Glasstap is really pleased
to provide them with access to outstanding networking opportunities through
Trainers’ Talk, which currently has over 2000 members in 50 countries worldwide.
The BILD is well placed in the L&D industry to help organisations inject new
ideas and thinking into training departments through their CPD days.Rich
Wootten, Spokesman for the British Institute for Learning and Development (The
BILD) said: "The BILD are delighted to be working with Glasstap, this
relationship will bring about huge benefits for our members as they will have
access to one of the fastest growing online forums. What was important to us is
that it is purely the preserve of Learning and Development Professionals.
Currently we've been using another group as a forum for our members but that
hasn't delivered the value that we'd hoped for. Access to this platform
demonstrates significant value to the BILD membership as our members get free
access to what is normally granted at a premium rate".
Glasstap sponsors local school in litter
pick (June 2008)
Glasstap Limited is encouraging the children of Alston Primary School to get involved
in a litter pick on Thursday 5th June 2008 with a £2,000 donation.
The whole school
is taking part with younger children concentrating on the school grounds, whilst
older children collect litter from various places around Alston including Fair Hill
and Tyne Willows.
The event has been organised by Louise Richardson, Office Manager at Glasstap and
Mrs Debbie Clarke, Deputy Head of Alston Primary School.
Louise said: “This is the first outside project that I have been involved in organising
through my job at Glasstap, and I am really pleased to be part of something so worthwhile.”
The funds from this event will be used in the learning and development of the children
with a portion going directly into the Alston Primary School Garden Fund, a project
set up by Mrs Clarke to provide hands on learning experience for the children in
the growing of a wide variety of plants and vegetables.
Debbie said: "The school is applying for their bronze eco-school award and will
then be working towards their silver award. The litter pick will help teach children
the impact that litter has on the environment and ways in which they can help to
solve the problem, which will be beneficial to the local community as a whole. It
is anticipated that a regular litter picking club will be set up as a result."
Mrs Clarke would like to thank all those who have made donations to the Alston Primary
School Garden Fund. Any further donations (tools, seeds etc) would be gratefully
received. For more information please contact the school on 01434 381213.

TJ Trainer of the Year 2006
Trainers' Library are the proud sponsors of the first ever TJ Trainer of the Year
Award, which has been won by Cheryl Guest.
Cheryl Guest works for Leeds City Council, and was nominated for the work she had
done during the implementation of SAP. The principles of SAP are to enable and encourage
independence, and to ensure that users and carers are confident that they will have
access to the right service, at the right place at the right time. Cheryl was nominated
for the award by her manager, Tracy Cartmell but Cheryl’is work has also been recognised
more widely, the Centre for Policy on Ageing (CPA) has recognised Leeds as a centre
of best practice for its development of a multi-agency training strategy. The training
was also highly commended by the West Yorkshire Strategic Health Authority.
Rod Webb, Director of Operations at Glasstap Limited, presented the award at a ceremony

Glasstap Turns on Green Lights (April 2006)
Glasstap Limited, the Alston based training company, is this month switching to
a new electricity supplier; Good Energy. The move means that all of the electricity
used at their office on Skellgillside will be sourced from the natural energy of
wind, sun or running water. And it's not just the lights that are turning green;
from the 26th April even their heating will be green, helping to reduce the company’s
carbon dioxide emissions by up to 10,000 kg this year alone.
Rod Webb, Director, explained: “Our electricity bill will increase by about 20 per
cent, but it is a price we think is worth paying. We chose Good Energy because it’s
the only UK supplier that supplies only 100% renewable electricity.
Many other companies offer a 'Green Tariff', but no one else obtains all of the
electricity they supply from renewable sources. As part of a group which invests
in the renewable industry, Good Energy concentrates on building consumer demand
for renewable electricity and supports small scale UK generators, businesses and
individuals, by buying renewable energy from them.” [Top]
